Take The Afternoon: Join us on April 8, 2024, for a once-in-a-lifetime ride as we pedal around Belleville’s trails as the moon eclipses the sun.
We'll start the ride just ast the moon starts to cross paths with the sun. Our route will explore quiet back streets and side trails as the eclipse develops. We’ll end up at Zwick’s park with time to settle in and prepare for this stellar moment!
This family-friendly, community ride is open to all ages and skill levels and is expected to take approximately 1h of riding time. Get out of the house with the family for the PA day and enjoy the spring weather! This route is a Rambler: expect primarily flat, paved riding on established trails. Your guides Adam and Laura will be leading the way and ensuring no one is left behind.
Gathering Point: Meet at the West Zwick's Park Pop Ups parking lot, located west of the pavilion at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Route Details: We're keeping it local: our route will meander through Belleville’s in-town trails and recommended bike routes, eventually leading us back to West Zwick’s Park. Here, we'll dismount and gather for the main event—the total eclipse. We'll have hot chocolate, iced tea, and snacks to enjoy in the darkness!
What to Bring: Your bike (all types welcome), helmet, water bottle, and your sense of wonder. Don't forget to charge your lights! Be sure to prepare for the day’s weather and bring what you'll need to feel comfortable outside while watching the eclipse.
Pro Tip: If you're driving to the gathering point, we suggest stocking your car with a lawn chair or a picnic blanket to bring out once we return to Zwick's Park for the main event. Toss in your tumbler for hot chocolate! ♻️

Safety and Respect: As always, bayofquinte.bike promotes a culture of safety and respect. All riders will need to complete a waiver and adhere to our group ride guidelines, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

RSVP:
We always require riders to RSVP for bayofquinte.bike rides. This lets us plan ahead and know how many people to expect, but more importantly, it helps ensure that every rider who joins us is set up for success with event details and the route plan, as well as a basic understanding of the navigation tool Ride With GPS. The RSVP function in Ride With GPS allows the ride leaders a direct line of communication with riders so that we can communicate any updates you'll want to be aware of ahead of each ride.
Not sure you're riding? It's ok to wait to RSVP until you make the decision. You can RSVP right up to the start time of the ride. If you have RSVP'd "Yes" and need to change your status, we'd appreciate if you take a moment to go back to the RWGPS page and change your status to "No" so that we don't wait for you at the starting point.
- Bringing your family? Please RSVP the adults and then email laura@thebrakeroom.com to let us know how many kids will be coming along for the ride. This helps us plan for hot chocolate, snacks and eclipse glasses!
- Riders must RSVP in Ride With GPS and be members of bayofquinte.bike. All riders must have the route accessible via their smartphone or GPS device. Rocking a flip phone, no data plan, or a device-free life? You can print the cue sheet or download the route for offline use.
- Riders must bring their own bike, helmet, water, lights.
- All bikes must be in excellent working condition on arrival and be equipped with front and rear lights and a bell.
