Grazzle Dazzle

Country roads will take you home, provided you’re willing to climb. You’ll head for the hills out of Wooler, hitting peak elevation at kilometre 16. Some people might say it’s all downhill from there, but those people would be lying.

You’ll crest a few more before the day’s done, and the second-highest peak at kilometre 43 will be your signal that the descent is about to begin. Between the peaks, you’ll find it easy to distract yourself with the sound of the wind in a cornfield and the promise of a treat from the Codrington Farmer’s market if you’ve planned your ride for a market day and you’re willing to divert from the route for a hot minute.

If you’re spending more time in the area or if you’ve got tag-along friends who don’t plan to ride, check out the countryside antique shops in Wooler, Brighton, Codrington and Morganston.
